Join Catharine as she tours the Rural Diary Archive exploring old diaries (including some from Huron County), the nature of diary writing and the value of diaries for historical research. Rather than indulge in self-reflection, rural men and women looked outward recording the activities of their family including work, marketing, purchasing goods, visiting friends and helping neighbours.

Catharine Wilson, recently retired History Professor, University of Guelph, is the Founder and Director of the Rural Diary Archive. Her award-winning book “Being Neighbours,” the study of quilting and barn-raising bees appeared in Fall 2022 published by McGill-Queen’s University Press.

Join us on Wednesday, November 6  at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom.
