Why Join Huron County Branch?

Our mission is to preserve, digitize, and make available records that are invaluable to those researching their Huron County roots. This work requires both volunteer hours and funding to continue.

What We Offer

  • Digitized Records – Much scanning and indexing work has been done recently, with numerous new books, booklets, and other materials added to the Members Corner of the Huron Branch website. Over 200 new files have been added—ranging from less than 10 pages to more than 400 pages—making up more than 11,000 JPEG files.
  • Engaging Speakers – We host expert speakers from across Ontario on topics of genealogical interest. A summary of each presentation is included in our newsletter. Recordings of these Webinars can be found in the Members Corner of our website.
  • Preserving Local History – We support the Huron County newspaper digitization project and have helped publish books by local historian David Yates, whose work captures the rich stories of Huron County. His books, Out of the Woods – Chronicles and Characters of Huron County and Out of the Blue, have been widely popular.
  • Research Assistance – Our team provides free research support to members, helping answer specific questions and conducting limited research using published Huron County sources.

By joining the Huron Branch, you are supporting the preservation of local history while gaining access to invaluable records and a community of passionate genealogists.

We’d love to have you with us!
